Program Overview:

The Physics REU program at the University of Washington Bothell (UWB) hosts undergraduate research students for 10 weeks during the summer to participate in research projects, professional development activities, and an introduction to research-oriented careers in physics and astronomy. Participants will be matched with faculty mentors based on student interests and will join a cohort of students participating in weekly seminars, workshops, and an introduction to research resources and skills.


Eligibility:

You must be an undergraduate student in any academic year (freshman through senior) at the time of the summer program.
You don't need to have a declared major, but you must have already completed the introductory physics sequence at your school.
Participants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents in order to be supported by NSF funding. Other funding opportunities are also available for this program. Students who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents may be eligible for other funding. All interested students should apply at the link in the next section.

Program Overview:

The Summer in Biomedical Science (SIBS) Undergraduate Research Program will provide the opportunity for young people to be instructed in the techniques of modern biology while becoming integrated members of a vibrant clinical and scientific community.


Eligibility:

Fifteen students who will be sophomore or junior level college undergraduates in March 2021 will be accepted into an 8-week paid summer program (2021 dates: June 7, - July 30, 2021) to work with faculty members on mentored research projects. US Citizens or Permanent Residents are eligible to apply; International Students are not eligible.

The Vanderbilt Undergraduate Clinical Research Internship Program (UCRIP) gives college students earning a four-year degree the opportunity to participate in both research and clinical patient care at an academic medical center. This program is designed for students who are interested in a career in medicine. Participants will complete a research project under the directorship of a research mentor and also directly observe clinical patient care while spending time with residents and attending physicians.


Eligibility:

The Program is limited to U.S. citizens (or persons having U.S. Permanent Resident status) earning a four-year undergraduate degree at an accredited US college or university.
Applying students must be a college undergraduate during the summer of the program year.
Applying students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater on a 4.0 scale.
UCRIP is unable to consider international applications. And as of 2016, the Vanderbilt International Scholar Program is no longer active. However, individual international undergraduates may be eligible for Short-term Research Training Experiences. For further information, visit: https://medschool.vanderbilt.edu/summer-positions/.
Preference is given to candidates with prior research experience and who have taken advance science courses.
Applying students should have a strong desire to pursue an M.D. degree or a combined M.D./Ph.D. degree.

The UCSP is a 9-week rigorous summer research enrichment program that starts June 3, 2021 and ends July 30, 2021. The program is open to students from any accredited university in the United States and is designed specifically for undergraduate students with an interest in clinical/epidemiologic research, with an eventual goal of MD, PhD, or MD-PhD degrees. Preference will be given to non-graduating college students. At this time, we are not accepting graduate or post-baccalaureate students.

Talented undergraduates from around the nation are invited to apply for the University of Pennsylvania Graduate Division of Arts and Sciences Summer Research Early Identification Program (SR–EIP) through the Leadership Alliance (Deadline February 1st). Eligible programs include those in the Humanities and Social Science fields.


Eligibility:

Applicants must be in good academic standing with a GPA of 3.0 or better and:

Have completed at least two semesters and have at least one semester remaining of their undergraduate education by the start of the summer program.

Demonstrate interest and potential to pursue graduate study toward a PhD or MD–PhD. (Note: The SR–EIP is NOT designed for students pursuing professional training for careers in the practice of law, business administration, clinical medicine, clinical psychology or the allied health professions.)

Be a documented US citizen or non–citizen national or permanent resident in possession of an alien registration receipt card (I–551) or other legal document of such status. International citizens studying in the United States with an F–1 visa are not eligible for the SR–EIP. Individuals seeking asylum or refugees are not eligible.

Attend full–time an accredited public or private college or university in the U.S. or its territories, as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Program Overview:

The Summer Internship Programs are designed to provide undergraduate college students opportunities to be mentored by professionals in their chosen research field, to become familiar with the use of state-of-the-art scientific equipment and technology, and to learn valuable interpersonal and presentation skills. The goal of these programs is to expose undergraduate college students to exciting advances in biomedical sciences that will help define their career paths. 


Eligibility:

Undergraduate college students must have completed at least one year of higher education (equivalent to 24 credit hours), be enrolled in a science/research related degree program and maintain a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. 

  
Students who have graduated before the start date of the summer internship program (May 10, 2021) are ineligible. If you are currently enrolled as a high school student or in a Master's degree program, you are ineligible to participate in the undergraduate research summer internship program.

Program Overview:

The Nebraska Summer Research Program offers undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents the opportunity to participate in nationally funded research groups across multiple disciplines. Designed for students with an interest in pursuing graduate education, the program provides a firsthand glimpse into life as a graduate student and prepares undergraduates to take that next step. Students are selected to work closely with a specific faculty mentor and their team of researchers throughout the summer on either an ongoing research project or a project condensed to fit the 10-week timeframe.


Eligibility:

U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
Current undergraduate with at least one semester of coursework remaining before obtaining a bachelor's degree (E.g., students graduating in May are not eligible for the Summer Research Program for the summer in which they graduate.)
Each research program may have unique criteria or prerequisites, learn more by visiting the research programs pages.

Preference will be given to students based on these criteria:
Completion of advanced coursework related to the research area
Junior or senior standing with one year of remaining undergraduate coursework
Evidence of interest in pursuing an advanced degree (master's or Ph.D.)
